October 17, 2020 - October 18, 2020

There will be a variety of events in Middletown this weekend to commemorate the 156th Anniversary of the Battle of Cedar Creek Reenactment weekend.

Saturday at 1pm, there will be a ceremony with speeches from Middletown Mayor Charles Harbaugh IV, Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation President Gary Rinkerman, as well as several town residents. It will also include music and roses and wreaths will be laid in respect to fallen Union and Confederate soldiers.

Saturday at 11, 1 and 3pm, we will have artillery demonstrations at the Veterans Memorial and again Sunday at 1pm.

Saturday night luminaries will be lit to honor the 964 fallen soldiers of the north and south on Main Street at 7pm. Special thanks to those that volunteered to help light the luminaries and Miller’s Ace Hardware for sponsoring!

Belle Grove Plantation will hold house tours on Saturday. Tours are limited to 10 guests and tour tickets are sold on a first-come, first served basis. Guests may view a Civil War weapons and flag display hosted by the Civil War Dance Foundation, a Pennsylvania based reenactment group. There will also be a free Civil War Signaling program on the front lawn at 11am and 1pm. No preregistration required, but please be prepared to social distance.
