Mount Hebron Cemetery

A serene place of tradition and beauty, Mount Hebron has been Winchester’s burying ground from the city’s inception. With grave stones dating back to the 1760s, the cemetery land was donated by Lord Fairfax to the local Lutheran and German Reformed Churches. Among those buried are Civil War soldiers, generals, governors, patriots, and humble citizens from every age.

Located in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Stonewall Cemetery is the resting place for the bodies of 2,575 Confederate soldiers who died in the fields and hospitals of this locality. Visit the website below for a cemetery map and listing of the soldiers buried there.
