Summer Music Theatre: Grease

With its raucous and rambunctious humor, Grease satirically captures the age-old desire for high schoolers to be provocative and rebellious. Featuring memorable hits such as “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightnin’” and “We Go Together,” it remains one of Broadway’s longest running shows. With this production, SSMT takes a fresh look under the hood of this old favorite, revealing how it has stood the test of time. This show has a suggested rating of PG-13 (depictions of smoking, foul language, and sexual situations; pyrotechnical effects and smoke) and may not be suitable for audiences under the age of 13.

Performances will run Thursday, July 1 through Sunday, August 1, and seating will be limited to allow space between family/friend groups. For more details about how SSMT will be keeping our staff and patrons safe, visit our COVID-19 Safety page. Due to licensing restrictions, this production will have live performances ONLY, there are no digital viewing options.

Music and Lyrics by Sherman Edwards

The seminal event in American history blazes to vivid life in this most unconventional of Broadway hits. It is the summer of 1776 and the nation is ready to declare independence…if only our founding fathers could put aside their pride, fears, uncertainties and petty disagreements and do the right thing for a fledgling nation. Fresh insights, contemporary issues and non-traditional casting breathe new life into the story of how our forefathers freed the country from the shackles of the British monarchy by signing the Declaration of Independence.
