Beaujolais Nouveau And Cru Beaujolais

Every year, Nouveau Beaujolais is released on the same day all over the world. It originated about a century ago as an inexpensive and cheerful drink to celebrate the end of the harvest in Burgundy. This playful wine is made to drink now and we will! Also, offered that evening will be Cru Beaujolais’ which are made more traditionally and tend to be released a year or two later and do benefit from aging in the bottle. We will pair these wines with traditional fare served in France on this jam packed festival day. Fran Kysela of Kysela Pere et Fils, will be on hand along with Sommelier Christian Borel to take us on a journey of Beaujolais Discovery along with a harvest menu created by Chef Richard. 145.00 per person plus tax and gratuity

Cha Wa – NOLA-ed Up Shrimp Boil

They’re back, and ready for another funky good time here at Sweet NOLA’s. Join us July 23rd for Cha Wa, delivering the sounds and aesthetics of the Mardi Gras Indians with the funk infused show that is guaranteed to have you funked up by the end of the night.

Cha Wa’s debut, “Funk N Feathers”, explored contemporary riffs on the traditional music Boudreaux grew up singing along side his grandfather, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, in the Golden Eagles Mardi Gras Indian tribe. Now “Spyboy” ups the ante by digging deeper into the sound of New Orleans culture and giving it a modern twist. The disc’s largely orginal material takes advantage of the band’s new horn section to highlight the musicians’ personal ties to the street music of their hometown. “We wanted to take the roots of what we love about New Orleans brass band music and Mardi Gras Indian music and then voice it in our own way,” says the group’s drummer and founder, Joe Gelini.

Madame Cheryl will be cooking up shrimp with all the fixin’s for this low country boil. Event rail or shine. Wear those dancing shoes and be prepared to cut some rugs, that is if you can still move after stuffing your face with handfuls of delicious shrimp.
