MSV After Dark: Steampunk


In the spirit of the exhibition Things Come Apart, head to the MSV dressed to impress in your best steampunk duds! Enter a costume contest—to be judged by Dr. Tarr (J. P. Murphy) of The Apparition Trail—for prizes, strike a pose in the photo booth from Journey Entertainment, loosen your gears on the dance floor, wet your whistle with a deconstructed wine cocktail, light up your own sewn-circuit badge with Valley Makers Association, and head to the MSV Makerspace Studio for robot and printing demonstrations!

Magic Lantern at MSV: Free Solo

This 2018 documentary follows free solo climber Alex Honnold as he prepares to achieve his lifelong dream: scaling the 3,200-foot El Capitan in Yosemite National Park without a rope.

MSV Members: $5; all others: $8. Film begins at 4:30 p.m. Snacks provided. Tickets sold at the door. Held in the Reception Hall located on the first floor of the main building.

Trails Tour

See the progress being made on The Trails at the MSV on this guided tour! Participants will walk to several sites along the future trails to get the lay of the land and see a few beautiful vistas. Includes walking on farm fields and through woods; wear shoes suitable for hiking and dress for the weather. Meet in the Museum Lobby.

Gardens at Night: The Robbie Limon Band

The 2019 Gardens at Night concert series begins with the Robbie Limon Band playing your favorite hits from the ’70s. Dance under the stars, play family lawn games (6–8 p.m.), and explore the gardens and galleries. Food, beer, and wine will be available for purchase. Seating begins at 5:30 p.m., food/drink stations and galleries & gardens open at 6 p.m., and the music goes from 7–9 p.m. Bring a chair! No outside food/drink permitted. Cash sales preferred. Rain/shine (dress for the weather).

Free to MSV Members, ages 12 & under, and—thanks to sponsor Navy Federal Credit Union—it’s free to all active duty, National Guard, and Reserve military personnel and their families (id required); all others: $10. Meet Shenandoah Valley potters and browse pottery displays in this show and sale organized by the Shenandoah Potters Guild. Special pottery demonstrations (1 and 2 p.m.) will be offered on both days.
