History and Hauntings

The history of our Manor House, Valerie Hill, spans two centuries. While her walls don’t talk, the ghosts that haunt her rooms certainly do. Our popular “History & Hauntings” event gives you the opportunity to hear first hand accounts of the activity of our resident ghosts – from the woman in the cellar that calls for help to the spirit of a boy perpetually locked in an attic room.

The evening includes dinner by Village Square Restaurant of Winchester, a glass of wine of your choice, and a detailed tour of our Manor House, focusing on historical fact and documented paranormal activity. This year’s menu by Chef Dan Kalber includes Southern Style Pot Roast, Mashed Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables, and fresh bread with butter. Dietary restrictions beyond a vegetarian option cannot be accommodated. This event is for adults 21 and over.

The Manor House Experience

An experience not to be missed! Valerie Hill Vineyard & Winery and Village Square Restaurant present The Manor House Experience. This event is a must for foodies and fans of the paranormal alike. The evening intertwines a five course Southern inspired dinner including wine pairings with a much more personal interpretation of Valerie Hill’s popular History & Hauntings paranormal presentation.

Chef Dan Kalber’s menu includes Virginia Peanut Soup, James River Day Oysters with Pickled Watermelon Rind Relish and Crispy Virginia Ham, Old Rag Trout Roulade with Chesapeake Blue Crab over Baby Potato Galette with Local Spinach and Hollandaise, Broiled Jennings Way Filet Mingon with Black Walnut Stuffing and Truffled Demi Glacé, and Southern Peach Crisp with Red Fox Creamery Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.

This intimate evening, limited to only 16 guests on only two dates, will be hosted by Valerie Hill’s proprietors and quite possibly one of Valerie Hill’s resident ghosts. Don’t miss this unforgettable Manor House Experience!
