The Winchester-Frederick County Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting the first Newcomers Welcome and Information Event at the Visitors Center.
This free, family-friendly event for new City and County residents of all ages aims to provide useful information in a low-key setting with some great local food.
Intentionally held after traditional work hours, this event is targeted at the many working families that have recently moved to the area. The Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum and Handley Library will be present with kid’s activities and information on the various programs that each offers.
The area’s many retirees who have recently relocated to the area are also welcome and encouraged to attend. There will be plenty of information available on local attractions, clubs and organizations, and community events.
Attendees will be treated to complimentary offerings from local restaurants like Bonnie Blue Southern Market & Bakery, Firefly Café, Shaffer’s BBQ, 0-60 Energy Café and Sweet NOLA’s.
In addition to the food, networking and kid’s activities, there will be representatives from the City and County government offices on hand with how-to information on utilities, taxes, vehicle registrations and more.
Parking is ample and free, however attendees are encouraged to refrain from parking in marked Shenandoah University spots.
This will be an alcohol-free event, however attendees will be able to learn out our local breweries, wineries, cidery and meadery inside the Visitor Center, and even purchase some local selections from the Gift Shop, which will be open during the event.
