Experience 275 years of history on this guided walking tour! Learn about the citizens that lived here and the pivotal events that made Winchester the place it is today. These tours are given by experienced and knowledgeable guides that enjoy sharing their love of local history.

Growing Your Agribusiness

The Virginia Cooperative Extension Office, Clarke County Economic Development and Tourism, and the Winchester-Frederick County Tourism Office will be hosting an informational and input session to assist and gather feedback from those looking to start or grow their agribusiness. We will discuss tools
and formulate priorities to help regional agritourism and agribusiness thrive.

This free, two-part event will discuss starting or growing your agribusiness, and feature speakers and experts both at the local and state level to offer information and strategies on best practices, business planning, grants, marketing and more.

Our lunch break at noon is open to all attendees and is sponsored by the Frederick County Economic Development Authority.

At 1pm, we’ll reconvene with just the existing agribusinesses in Winchester/Frederick/Clarke to discuss tools and formulate priorities to help regional agritourism and agribusiness thrive, and gain your feedback and input on regional marketing initiatives and how we can best support you as your grow and adapt.

Follow the Star – Living Nativity Drive Through

December 4 and 5, 5-9pm

Follow the Star is a dramatic and immersive live nativity experience celebrating its 12th year in Winchester, Virginia.

This year Follow the Star will be a drive through Nativity, in the Parking Lot of Fellowship Bible Church. You will be greeted by traffic attendants who will show you where to drive and you will experience Follow the Star from the warmth and safety of your vehicle. Expect delays when you arrive, but we will have Christmas music for your listening enjoyment. The audio portion will be through a link given to you when you arrive – or a CD, if that’s your preference. There will be live drama- including animals- for your enjoyment as you drive through the event.

Open to the public. All are welcome!

Shaffer’s BBQ and Market 5 Year Anniversary Party

Shaffer’s BBQ & Market is turning FIVE! The Shaffer Family has been cooking BBQ in the Shenandoah Valley since 1952. Matt and Julie set out five years ago to put their own spin on the family business and converted an old gas station in Middletown into a favorite local BBQ Market. They want to celebrate big and thank all of the customers who keep coming thru the door.

Farm to Fork Fondo

Farm to Fork Foundation is an organized bicycle ride where riders get to choose the distance best for them and stop for chef-prepared bites at farms along the way. Its mission is to highlight and support the symbiotic relationship between cyclists, farmers, and beautiful landscapes. The rides promote physical activity in a fun and supportive environment, create achievable challenges for people of all ages and abilities, and result in social good.

The Farm to Fork Fondo rides are held throughout the spring, summer, and fall in eight locations throughout the country.

Some participating locations in Frederick County this year include Belle Grove Plantation (where all routes begin), Marker Miller Orchards and Farm Market, Richards Fruit Market, and Valley Roots Farm.
