Get in the Spirit with These Local Parades!

Middletown Christmas Parade

Sunday, December 1, 2pm


The quaint town of Middletown is hosting its Christmas parade this Sunday. This family-friendly celebration includes horses, trucks, floats, and marching bands, followed by Santa and Mrs. Claus! The parade route travels down Main Street, and afterward, participants can join Santa and Mrs. Claus for cookies and photos at the Middletown Volunteer Fire Department.


Old Town Winchester Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting
Monday, December 2, 7pm

Bring the family to Old Town Winchester for the annual holiday parade. The parade will feature bands, floats, and specialty units, many with sparkling lights. The parade route is Cameron Street to Piccadilly to left on Braddock St. to left on Cork St. and finish at Loudoun St. After the parade, follow Santa to the Christmas tree on the Loudoun Street Mall for the tree lighting!




Stop By the Visitors Center for

Unique Local Gifts, Christmas Ornaments, and Letters to Santa



If you are looking for a unique local gift, don't forget that our gift shop has a variety of Winchester and Virginia made products! We carry handmade pottery, candles and soaps, local beer, wine, and mead, in addition to handmade Christmas ornaments by local artists. Wooden painted ornaments celebrating Winchester's 275th are available from local artist, Jackie Tobin. On Black Friday, we will also have a handmade ornament made by local potter, Heather Scott.


Letters to Santa
November 18-December 2

We are once again collecting Letters to Santa! Write a letter (with return address), drop it in the mailbox, and Santa will write you back! Santa is getting busy, so make sure to put your letter in our mailbox by Monday, December 2. The Visitors Center is located at 1400 S. Pleasant Valley Rd, Winchester.


Ring in the New Year at First Night Winchester

Tuesday, December 31


First Night Winchester is the largest, safest, most family-friendly New Year's Eve celebration in the Shenandoah Valley!


The day will begin at 10am with children's activities, and continue into the evening, with numerous music acts, Battle of the Buskers, magic and comedy, wildlife presentations, and new this year - a pinball tournament!

Just before the year ends, join the community and count down time with the official "Apple Drop" and midnight fireworks display!


Admission buttons will be available to purchase at the Winchester-Frederick County Visitors Center (1400 S. Pleasant Valley Rd, Winchester) from December 21-31.
