The 7th annual Oktoberfest will bring German music, dancing, and much more to Old Town Winchester! The festival will stretch most of the Loudoun Street Mall including The Shenandoah Valley Civil War Museum lawn and the Taylor Pavilion.
Inside the festival will be German-inspired food, beers, and global wine while also experiencing different parts of German culture. On Friday and Saturday, there will be a Best Dressed Lederhosen and Dirndl contest with the top prize being an overnight stay for two at the Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown, WV. For live music, Lola the Organ Grinder will be playing German tunes all along the walking mall with her hand-crafted crank organ. The veteran high energy band “The Continentals” will be showcasing a wide repertoire of different ethnic styles of polka and waltz. On Saturday, The Original Bavarian Dance Club of Washington D.C., “Altwashingtonia Schuplattler Verein”, will be performing with over 30 costumed professional Bavarian dancers.
Other activities included in the festival are free caricature paintings, a free photo booth, and street performers.
Advanced online tasting package is $20, which includes six tastings and a 12oz glass beer stein. Tasting packages the day of the event are $25, which include the six tastings and 12 oz beer stein as well. General admission is free.
